Old Tincup Pass
I don’t know if it’s the beauty of Mirror Lake or just the thought of running one of the best trails in Colorado that keeps us longing for Old Tincup. After arriving in Buena Vista we took it over Cottonwood Pass to Taylor Reservoir. We made a left toward the town of Tincup and began our ascent toward Mirror Lake. It was just as beautiful as I remembered, like a sheet of glass between the peaks… We joined Brentagimo and the Gabemeister and took it to the Old Tincup pass trail. The beginning of the trail was just like I remembered. Very challenging with just the right mix of boulders and gravel… The middle section seemed to be the most challenging. Tagimo went a little far to the left, and decided to back up to make a correction and oops… Just a small crunch, a little tail light damage… Seems that rock was just a little stronger than the plastic! I Guess if that’s all the damage you receive on Old Tincup, consider yourself lucky! We had lunch at the top of the pass, and let the kids roam a little. On the way down we took the St Elmo route, which seems to move quicker than Cottonwood Pass! Wow, what a day. Gotta get up there again! Oh See!!! Christopher…
