Memorial Weekend
2009
This year’s annual adventure definitely lived up to the tradition that began 13 short years ago!!! The weather turned cool and rainy for the weekend, but nothing could dampen this crew’s spirit!
Most of our members arrived Friday, setting up camp and generally having a great relaxing day around the campfire. The remaining crew members showed up Saturday morning, ready for this years main event, our 1st ever GeoStash poker run!!!
Armed with nothing more than general clues, directions and GPS coordinates the members were divided into teams. The teams disbursed throughout the morning and in true Edge style searched until each stash were found… It was exciting to challenge our navigation skills, as well as the cohesiveness of our teams. Prizes were awarded according to poker hand, and everyone got some great loot!!! We then attempted our night run, and with some darkness and a little confusion we eventually brought the crew back to camp safe and sound!! Next time I think markers would seem to make sense in a new area, but it was fun none the less!!!
Earlier in the day a few of us decided to take a little unplanned side trip up China Wall! With all the slippery conditions from the constant rain, 3 of us earned our Uncle Warn stickers, but Justin and Tony made it up unaided!! I was proud of the efforts though, and win or loose it was time to get back to camp for that steak dinner!!!
What a trip!! We missed everyone that couldn’t make it!! I want to be sure and thank everyone for their part in this year’s event… Brentagimo really went all out in setting up the poker run and organizing the shirt order, Tracy made her amazing pasta salad, James brought the Starbucks and I brought the corn! Just proving that as a team, we are by far the best crew crawling around Colorado!!!
Cheers!!
Christopher…
