We decided to take it back to the cone on August 31st. We started from the usual meeting location on Sunday morning at 7:30, figuring it would be a fairly long day. The plan of attack was to take Red Cone over the divide and then return back to 285 via Georgia Pass. As we hit the trail from 285 it was about nine o'clock or so and it was still pretty cool with cloud cover and fog rolling through the valley. As the pictures below attest it was a very unique experience as you would be driving and a cloud would pass below you.

As we reached the peak of Red Cone the weather cleared of and it became clear and windy, although it is probably always windy at 12,800 feet. Following the descent from Red Cone we started up Radical Hill. We were held up slightly by the Denver Land Rover Club as they were performing some trail repair. After radical hill the trail follows a ridge for a bit and then descends into the tree. This was where we decided to have some lunch.

After lunch we continue down the trail that would eventually lead you to Breckinridge. We took a little by pass that jump over to the Georgia pass trail. Georgia pass wasn't really much of a 4wd trail as stock vehicles abound traveled back and forth freely. I almost thought I was Aspen as we rolled pass the four occupants happily enjoying the great outdoors from the heated leather seats of a Lexus SUV. Once reaching the top of Georgia Pass it is a grated gravel road back to 285.
